Tristan’s had his first field training last Sunday. It didn’t turn out too bad. He was naturally easily distracted by his surroundings, curious with every movement around him – the birds, dogs passing by, etc. I brought treats and his favourite rubber ball but he was so toy motivated that I could only ‘reward’ him with the rubber ball when he obeyed my commands. Thankfully he ‘paid attention’ to my commands albeit being v.motivated by playfulness. Heh.
Well, the training method works so far. But he’s still only v.motivated by rewards. I have gotta start phasing out the rewards once he understands all the commands. But I’m still not too pleased with his potty training. I’ve to start instilling more ‘cruel’ methods like locking him up in the bathroom for a longer duration to ‘teach’ him that that’s where the toilet is. Currently, the half hour lock-up is not working anymore – only worked for the first 2 days. Hmmph.
The park in front of One-U is actually quite a nice park for walks with your dawgs. Unfortunately, our weather is not as conducive and the location is not as desirable. There was this girl who was walking her tiny baby poodle – omigosh, it’s such an adorable little thing. I’m not usually a fan of poodles but the baby is oh so cute. Makes me look forward to mah little ‘grandchildren’. Hehe. Oh I’ve yet to take Trin to the vet – what a terrible mummy I am! Yikes!
