I made my first debut on tv last Thursday....and it was a live telecast! Woohoo!! It was a thrilling experience. This was what happened...
Havana Estudio has been driving a few publicity initiatives. Sharie's publicist had managed to get us a slot on TV3's malay talk show for women called Wanita Hari Ini. The first coverage was supposed to be on flamenco. But at 9.30am last Thurs, Sharie woke me up from my sleep to say that the flamenco teacher had fallen ill and was unable to appear on the tv show. So in replacement, she wanted to feature salsa and belly dancing. Then she requested for me to do a short performance with Sam as Aisha was also unable to appear on tv due to some personal reasons. My first reaction was..."OMG!! This is surreal." It was my first ever performance with Sam and it had to be on tv! How overwhelming!!
Anyway, then Sharie told me that we were required to be at the tv station at 1pm. That left us hardly any time to practise. Then Sam contacted me and said that he'd pick me up at 12pm. My thots were so scattered. What do I wear? Do I put on make up? After consulting with Aisha, I decided to bring a few changes of clothes so that Sam, Sharie and the tv ppl could agree on what I should wear.
At 12pm, Sam picked me up and we went to the studio to do some warm up. At 12.45pm, we headed over the the TV3 station. They finally agreed that I should don on a black salsa-looking skirt and a red top. It was important that I do not expose too much cleavage and mid-riff for sensitive purposes. It was after all a malay women's show. Then I had my make up worn by a make-up artist.
At abt 3.30pm, we were on. Sam and I danced a 2-minute performance. Before we knew it, it was over and done with. Phew! Then Sam, Sharie and Nancy (belly dance teacher) were interviewed. And it was done! Overall, it was pretty cool. Surprisingly, I didn't feel too much jitters during the performance. I think I was comforted by the fact that it was Sam I was dancing with, so I felt that I needn't have to worry about remembering my steps and just follow his leads. Hehe.
Later that evening, I watched the playback. I think it wasn't too bad but boy, did I look so pale. Not that I didn't know that of myself already but to see it on screen with my own eyes is somewhat a different thing. Hmm....I must get a tan. Unfortunately, as the show was a live telecast at 3pm on a work day, hardly anyone caught it. My mom did tho since I'd informed her. Heh.
Wow whee....what a cool experience that was! *big grin*
